Products I Use? LifeWave!

You’re familiar with how taping words and numbers to your water bottle can change the structure of the water to create positive changes in your body? Well, now you can do the same thing with your body!

LifeWave Patches allow you to harness the power of phototherapy to create visible changes in your body.

So what is phototherapy? The science of phototherapy, which has been around for about 100 years, uses light to improve the health of the body. As far back as two thousand years ago, the ancient Greeks had a center for studying the effects of different colored lights on the body. Even the ancient Egyptians, who promoted health by focusing sunlight through colored glass on certain areas of the body, understood this concept.

There are various patches to address specific goals, but the first patch that I recommend to everyone is X39, to elevate, activate, and regenerate your cells.

X39’s patented wellness technology elevates the flow of your body’s innate energy, fostering overall wellness and an active lifestyle.

Check out all the LifeWave products on my website. In addition to the patches, check out the aromatherapy and skin care products!

Be sure to get in touch with me if you’d like more information or if you’re interested in becoming a LifeWave Brand Partner.

Do You Grind Your Teeth?

I can’t tell you how many of my clients (eventually) mention that they grind their teeth in their sleep.  They go to the dentist.  They get piece of plastic to put in their mouth to keep from destroying their teeth.  They learn to sleep and breathe around the weird device.

They take all the steps to address the symptom.  But they don’t address the actual cause.

Stress at home.  Stress at work.  Financial stress.  More stress.

Most people don’t notice or don’t get the connection between stress and the physical signs/symptoms of stress. Stress and tension that you carry through your day can be so intense that signs of stress may even show up during sleep hours:

  • Swirling thoughts that keep you tossing and turning.
  • Interrupted sleep throughout the night.
  • Grinding your teeth.

Some Immediate Dangers

Teeth grinding can cause damage not only your teeth, but can also exert unnatural stress on your jaws and musculature. This can result in waking up to pain that radiates from your jaw, particularly where it connects to your skull. This can throw off the alignment of your teeth in addition to wearing down the structure of the teeth.

Things You Can Try

To treat the symptom, the first thing many people do is find out how they can keep these teeth away from each other when they sleep. This can be done using different types of mouthguards until you can find some more long-term solutions to the problem. You can also try limiting the amount of caffeine and other stimulants that you intake in a day. Stimulants are known for causing a buildup of stress when they are used too often or taken right before bed, but it’s also possible that these manifestations could be signs of other issues that your body has been experiencing.

Deeper Causes

If you haven’t been able to reduce the amount of teeth grinding that you find yourself doing during your journey, then it’s entirely possible that you might have to have some kind of sleep study done. This is important because it’s entirely possible that the teeth grinding is a sign of a more serious disorder like sleep apnea, which could easily develop into something life threatening. Sleep Apnea occurs when your breathing becomes obstructed, so this can lead to interrupted sleep, daytime drowsiness, and in some cases, even death, so you should try to find out the source of this discomfort with an urgent effort.

The good news about teeth grinding is that it is relatively easy to treat. You can visit your dentist to get a mouth guard, which will be placed over your top and bottom teeth, providing a barrier between the top and bottom rows of teeth. That way, even if you try to clench or grind your teeth, they won’t make contact, therefore protecting the enamel. Over time, you will start reducing the habit thanks to the mouth guard, so you might not have to wear it for the rest of your life.

But what if you want to get rid of the habit of teeth grinding and throw away the unnatural appliances?  You’ve been to all the doctors, and there is no physical reason for you to grind your teeth.  You’ve lived many years without this habit, and want to get back to a more relaxed state of sleep.

  • Step 1 – Look at your life.  What stressors do you live with – and ignore- on a daily basis?
  • Step 2 – Make a change based on what you uncovered in Step 1

It’s probably that simple.  Your body has been screaming at you, trying to get your attention.  You haven’t made the connection until now, and you’ve been ignoring all the ‘danger’ signals your body has been sending.

If you need help translating what your body is trying to tell you, get on my calendar.  We’ll explore what your body is saying, that you haven’t been hearing.

Things can change.  It’s your choice.  When will you choose YOU?

The Importance of Mindset

Do you have a “fixed mindset” or a “growth mindset”?  Since you’re on an Energy Healing website, which is a bit off the normal ‘health through better pharmaceuticals’ philosophy, chances are you are open to new ideas and processes.  So I’d say most readers have already started down the path of a growth mindset.

So what’s the difference between fixed and growth mindsets?

  • People with the fixed mindset tend to feel that their skills, potential and abilities are set, and can limit their potential.  People with a growth mentality are open to the idea that there is always room for improvement if they want it enough and are willing to put in the work.
  • Those in the “fixed” category tend to feel powerless to manipulate their pre-ordained, possibly genetic skills and talents while those in the growth category are far more optimistic about who is calling the shots – and step out of their box to learn new things.

Another significant difference is how a person views mistakes or obstacles and the attitude that they foster when the inevitable problems show up.  For example, those with a fixed mindset are apt to become easily discouraged and throw in the towel at the first setback, whereas those with a growth mindset are more optimistic in their outlook and adopt more of an opportunistic approach to problems.  They turn negativity into a chance to learn and grow from whatever hindrance they might encounter.

Given what is already understood about the two opposite approaches to mindset, the fixed mindset does not leave the same room for growth, learning, or personal prosperity, while the growth mindset is a more positive option that is more likely to maximize an individual’s success and happiness in life.

It is also important when discussing this particular topic to consider the ways in which our mindset can affect us other than in our ability to grow and prosper and be successful.

Mindset can have a major impact on health and physical well-being.  A person who tends to consistently be discouraged or depressed is more likely to have that negative mentality suppress their immune system, which in turn makes them more prone to illnesses and longer recovery periods.

People with a growth mindset tend to feel more in control of their health, become sick less often, and tend to be happier and healthier.

But there is hopeful news for those who find themselves stuck in the pessimistic fixed mindset.  YOU control your future.  YOU control your thoughts.  YOU control your life.  YOU can choose a new path.  YOU can choose.

I love to work with people who are building a new future.  A new relationship, a new mindset, a new business.  Even new healers who are working on growing their craft.  If you’d like some support while you create your new future, I’m here for you.  We can work on beliefs that are holding you back, insecurities that are holding you in your current reality, memories of past failures that are keeping you from taking another risk, and negative thoughts that replay in your head that keep you stuck.  Get on my calendar so we can start moving your forward.

Move to that mindset of growth.  Find success in whatever venture you jump into next.  You can do it!

GMOs And Your Food 101

There’s a lot of talk lately about the safety and labeling of food that’s been genetically modified.  GMOs – Genetically Modified Organisms – are animals and plants that have been genetically altered. They are modified so that our crops and more resistant to pests, weeds, and any other diseases that typically threaten them. They tend to have a longer life, travel well, can reduce the cost of the product.

It’s common for GMOs to feature in mass-produced products, and even though the US did pass a bill requiring some GMO ingredients to be listed on labeling, there are loopholes that allow manufacturers to get around it or skip certain ingredients.

It’s become a common method of farming because it is more cost efficient for both farmers and producers.

Is It Safe To Eat GMOs?

Dozens of countries across the planet have placed restrictions (or bans) on producing GMOs. Why?

Quite simply, these countries do not believe that GMOs have been proven to be safe. The consensus has simply been that in the studies so far, it doesn’t appear that GMOs are unsafe (https://allianceforscience.cornell.edu/blog/mark-lynas/gmo-safety-debate-over). It is hardly the win that GMO activists have claimed it to be.

The Widespread Use of GMOs

The majority of both soybeans and corn that are grown in the US have been genetically modified. In fact, The Center For Food Safety reports that it is believed that around 70% of American processed foods stocking the supermarket shelves now contain at least one ingredient that has been genetically modified. There are a number of crops that are unrestricted and while there have been court orders to prevent their planting, the USDA hasn’t enforced it.

How To Avoid GMOs

The simplest way to avoid consuming GMO products is to buy organic foods wherever possible. The processes that organic producers use ensure that your food hasn’t been genetically modified, it is not subjected to planting on land that has been treated or sprayed with chemicals. Separate machinery is used to prevent contamination and the ingredients are stored separately, too.

If the cost of organic products makes your stomach turn there is a way to find a good balance. Fruits and vegetables with a hard or thick skin are the safest non-organic products for you to purchase as it’s more difficult for toxins to reach the fruit or vegetable itself. However, when it comes to those fruits and vegetables with soft skin (or skin that you eat) you should always buy organic.

What Do GMOs Do To The Environment

GMOs may be leading to the growth of superbugs and superweeds as these become more resistant to the pesticides and herbicides being used, thus increasing the need for more of it to be used or a stronger version to be created.

The Organic Center found that in the first 13 years of GMOs in commercial use, those crops increased herbicide use by over 350 million pounds.

It appears as though that the majority of GMO crops are being used to feed livestock in the richer nations, rather than putting food in the bellies of poor nations. South America produces large amounts of GMO soybeans, but they are going to feed Europe’s livestock. Additionally, there is a potential risk that poor farmers are being displaced, making locally consumed products more scarce.

What Will GMOs Do To My Health?

While there have been numerous studies on GMOs, the general consensus (only reached recently) is that they do not appear to be unsafe. However, because the products weren’t labeled or tracked for so long, it is challenging to get a true picture of what potential human health problems may stem from the consumption of GMOs. While we don’t know that GMOs actively harm human health, we also don’t truly know whether they are unsafe.

Chronic Stress

Alternative Treatments for Chronic Stress

Stress is an everyday word that you can encounter too often in this busy, fast-moving world. While a week’s worth of stress may easily be relieved after a Friday night with friends, stress over long periods of time can result into a wide array of conditions, encompassing physical, mental, and behavioral aspects.

Stress is the body’s response to the pressure perceived from our surroundings. While a small daily dose of stress might be normal, exposure to excessive stress for a prolonged period can lead to more serious diseases and behavioral disorders.

Chronic stress is one of the known culprits for developing anxiety, depression, asthma, heart issues, diabetes, and even for premature death.

Conventional versus Alternative Treatment

Conventional medicine often focuses on treating the mind and the body separately. But in most recent studies, more scientific evidence shows the interconnection between the body and the mind through certain metabolic, hormonal, and biochemical changes that the body undergoes when it is under stress.

On the other hand, proponents of alternative treatments have long since believed that the body reacts differently when the mind and body are in a state of imbalance.

Primarily, the focus of alternative medicine is to treat the body and the mind as a whole, creating a unified balance that promotes relaxation and reduces stress.

All Natural Methods to Relieve Stress

Aromatherapy

Ever heard of lavender and bergamot? These are just two of some popular essential oils that are known for producing aromas found to be effective in relieving stress and muscle tension. Other extracts from certain plants and flowers can bring this wonderful effect to anyone who has inhaled the scent. For an even better result, combine aromatherapy with massage.

Massage

Swedish, Shiatsu, Thai – these are just some of the most popular massage techniques that are used worldwide. In general, massage therapy helps relaxes the muscles and improve blood circulation. This not only reduces stress levels, but alleviates pain as well.

You can go from gentle to deep tissue massages, depending on your tolerance. However, if you suffer from any musculoskeletal condition, make sure you to seek your doctor’s advice first to ask if massage is appropriate for you.

Meditation

Meditation is an ancient practice in Asia that was used to maintain peace and tranquility. It offers a wide range of physical, emotional, and mental benefits, including the relief of stress.

Meditation involves different principles and practices, but commonly involves deep breathing exercises and repeating positive thoughts mentally.

Aside from helping the person achieve a calm state of mind, the deep breathing exercises also offer added benefits such as increasing the intake of oxygen-rich air. And oxygen feeds the cells, thereby aiding in healing of the body and mind.

Yoga

Yoga is sometimes considered as a form of meditation and vice versa. The discipline combines physical and mental aspects to control stress, involving specific poses and controlled breathing aimed at unifying the body, mind, and spirit.

Just like meditational practices, yoga can relieve and prevent chronic stress through relaxation techniques.

Acupressure and Acupuncture

These two ancient Chinese arts of healing are based on the concept of life energy or “chi”, which stimulates the body’s own healing ability. Any malady that the body acquires is attributed to the interruption in the flow of chi, when the body’s natural pathways are blocked.

Acupressure and acupuncture are aimed at freeing the pathways from these blocks by working on certain points. Whereas acupressure uses finger pressures on those points, acupuncture employs insertion of very fine needles through the skin on the same points.

Hypnotherapy

Through hypnosis, the power of the unconscious mind is unlocked, which in turn offers relaxation and a renewed, positive outlook that combats stress.

Final Thoughts

Every person develops their own unique way to cope with stress, and alternative treatments only present a few of these options. It is best to engage in a practice that you enjoy and can commit to in order to see long-term results.  Finding the source of the stress by utilizing intuition and gentle healing techniques can create a new reality. Book a session and explore your current reality so you can expedite the creation of a new you.

Ayurveda

Ayurveda Uses and Health Benefits

Known as an ancient healing system originating in India, Ayurveda is a holistic medical system that focuses on a spiritual way of life. Highly individualized, the Ayurveda treatment can incorporate a wide variety of methods such as changes in diet, exercise, herbal therapy, massage, and meditation.

History

Written between the second and fourth centuries, the first recorded book of Ayurveda is believed to be based on an older oral tradition. Focusing most of its attention on digestion, the book discusses all the principles of Ayurveda. Ayurveda tradition influenced the development of traditional Chinese medicine, which served to further the development of Ayurveda.

The Principles

Ayurveda states that the body contains three forces known as the tri-dosha. The dosha are vata, pitta, and kapha and work in unison. It is said that each person is dominated by one of these dosha. Other aspects of the body that Ayurveda considers are 5 sub-dosha, 7 tissues, 4 states of agni, and 14 body systems.

The principle of Ayurveda is that all of these body systems must be working in balance in order for the body to be healthy. It is believed that disease occurs in the body when one or more of these systems is out of balance. For example, excessive kapha is said to cause people to suffer from obesity.

The Practice

Ayurveda does not only focus on the physical health of a person but also the emotional, mental, and spiritual wellness in order to obtain perfect health and to treat and prevent disease. The path to healing is specific to an individual, as each person’s body is unique and may respond in different ways.

Diet is one of the basic principles in Ayurveda, and is used as one of the primary methods of healing. It is believed that different foods strengthen or weaken different dosha; therefore, people are prescribed a specific diet according to their personal needs. This differs from our usual approach to food where we categorize foods as healthy or unhealthy. In Ayurveda, a specific food may be healthy for one person unhealthy for another.

Herbs are also used in Ayurveda in the same way. Herbs that balance one person’s body may create imbalance in someone else.

Scientific Evidence

We are all individuals. It makes sense that our medical treatments should be individualized, but modern medicine is grounded in protocols that treat people as a similar group rather than individual parts. Ayurveda treatment is grounded in the individual’s reality.

Since the treatments are so highly individualized it is challenging to find scientific measurements to provide proof for the theories of Ayurveda. Although Ayurveda as a whole is somewhat lacking in scientific proof, the herbal remedies have been studied in several trials and were shown to improve heath dramatically.

Uses and Benefits

Ayurveda focuses more on preventing diseases rather than curing them. Treatments are not given to the ailments, but to the body as a whole. Ayurveda is used to eliminate toxins from the body and create a natural balance to reach optimal health. Ayurveda is not a treatment for disease, but is a way of life thought to further the prevention of disease. Here are a few of the benefits of practicing Ayurveda:

  • Treat Respiratory problems – Studies have shown that using Ayurveda can help address respiratory issues that accompany colds and flus.
  • Improve circulation – Treatments such as the use of essential oils or massage help to relax your body and herbal treatments help improve blood flow as well as oxygen distribution throughout the entire body.
  • Skin issues – Bloodletting by use of leaches or needles has been shown to help with issues such as acne, eczema, and skin blemishes.
  • Relaxation benefits – Treatments such as medicated baths or massage help with the relaxation of the mind and body. Along with relieving stress, these treatments are said to help balance and heal one’s mental state.

Research is ongoing when it comes to the treatments used in Ayurveda. Even though a robust body of scientific proof is not available, those who have used the practice rely on their own experiences as the evidence of its validity.
